OUR APPROACH

Why Hygeia?

NO B.S. APPROACH

We live in an era of nutrition misinformation — unvalidated lab tests, overpriced supplements, and pseudoscientific detox programs marketed as cutting-edge care. Our approach cuts through the noise: targeted, bio-individualized, and grounded in behavior change and evidence-based practice.

Licensed, QUALIFIED, and EXPERIENCED

Unlike "nutritionists" who can obtain a certification in a matter of months, registered dietitians complete rigorous academic and clinical training. We are a small, intentional practice built on deep patient relationships, where experienced dietitians are genuinely invested in your long-term success.

Next-Gen Care

We leverage modern care delivery systems and technology to make high-quality nutrition care more accessible and efficient. Through HIPAA-compliant telehealth, digital health tools, and data-informed insights, we provide innovative, convenient solutions that support patients in implementing and sustaining healthy behaviors.

Done With Overpriced Wellness Promises? Same.

Unvalidated lab tests, "medical grade" supplements, and exclusive protocols designed to empty your wallet — not transform your health. Our registered dietitians cut through the noise with deep clinical expertise and a personalized approach that delivers real, lasting results. No gimmicks. No inflated price tags. Just outcomes.

FAQ

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We accept major plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, WellPoint, and Mass General Brigham.

How is a dietitian different from a nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) is a licensed nutrition expert who has completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, 1,000+ hours of supervised practice, and passed a national board exam. RDs are legally qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, and they work in hospitals, private practice, and clinical settings. Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is a personalized, evidence-based treatment provided by a licensed Registered Dietitian to help manage and treat chronic medical conditions. Unlike general nutrition advice, MNT uses targeted dietary modifications and lifestyle counseling to address the specific biological pathways of an illness or disease.

Importantly, most health insurance providers only cover nutrition services when they are delivered by a Registered Dietitian.

In contrast, the title “Nutritionist” is not legally regulated in many states, meaning anyone can call themselves a nutritionist regardless of education or certification. Some states offer credentials such as Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), which require advanced degrees and supervised practice hours, but their scope of practice is still not as broad as that of an RD.

Do I need to go on a super strict diet for this to work?

Absolutely not. Our philosophy rejects restrictive, all-or-nothing diets. Instead, we focus on cultivating flexible, sustainable habits that complement your lifestyle—allowing you to honor your food preferences while achieving meaningful, long-term progress.

Are all sessions virtual, or do you offer in-person visits?

All of our visits are 100% virtual using a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
